"Media test failure, check cable" Error?
This is my first time building a computer. I just finished putting my computer together (no OS yet) and I get this after I finish configuring the BIOS page:
NVIDIA Boot Agent 249.0542
Copyright © 2001-2005 NVIDIA Corporation
Copyright © 1997-2000 Intel Corporation
PXE-E61: Media test failure, check cable
PXE-MOF: Exiting NVIDIA Boot Agent
DISK BOOT FAILURE, INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER
I have no clue what it exactly means or what to do now!
System specs if needed:
EVGA Nforce 780i SLI Motherboard
EVGA GeForce 280 GTX
Intel Core 2 Quad CPU 2.83GHz
4GB DDR2 800MHz RAM
Standard CD/DVD
Western Digital 300GB HD 10,000rpm
Are you getting this when you try to install the operating system? If so, check the cables and master/slave/cable select jumpers for your hard drive and CD/DVD drive. Also, double check the boot order in BIOS to be sure the media (presumably the DVD/CD drive) comes before the hard drive. Or, use the menu to select a boot device, if your BIOS has that feature.
If you have not tried to install an O/S, ignore that error.
