COD Black Ops - Demanding On The PC?
With the release of Call of Duty Black Ops just a few weeks away now and the recent plethora of screenies hitting the internet, realistically Desktop PC owners will probably need to dust off the wallet and spend some cash if they want to see the game in its full glory.
The specs arent fully down yet, but even from the videos of gameplay, it has to be assumed that (like previous versions) the game will be graphically intense and you arent going to get away with that old 486DX2. It's still not entirely clear what you WILL need though. Do you plump for the newer 6 core versions from AMD or Intel's tried and trusted quad core route? That's the easy part though as choosing either will generally do a great job.
Its the same with PC memory too, plenty of it is the obvious requirement and as fast as your motherboard can cope with, certainly anything less than 4GB is going to struggle.
The real problem comes in the graphics department. Videos are difficult to judge but it looks like you are going to need a monster PC to get the best out of the game, especially if you want to inflict maximum damage with the crossbow!. Its safe to say that anything under 30 fps is going to bring tears to your eyes and not those of joy.
So even if you have the best PC parts money can buy, it's essential you make sure you have the latest graphics card in your machine or it is going to be very messy on launch day. The first choice you need to make is between nVidia and ATi, but in truth, either of these is a fine choice, what will matter more is which version of DirectX the card is capable of working with and in that sense, you would be foolish to invest in anything other than a DX11 card.
If money is no object when it comes to computer hardware, then sticking one of the GTX 480 cards from Nvidia will ensure that not only can you play Call of Duty Black Ops in full glorious resolution with all the graphics turned up high, but you also future proof yourself for the inevitable follow up in 12 months time.
