An In-Depth Review Of The Supersonic SC-2020 CD Boombox

Boomboxes come in different shapes and sizes, brands and makes. But where can you get a vintage double cassette player that's just new within the market? The Supersonic SC-2020 CD Boombox is among the later models of double cassette tape players that have been created as boomboxes, loud music players that can rock the house down. But what does it have to give?

Design

It looks comparable to most boomboxes - large, bulky, and has two speakers at each side. However it actually has more of that vintage look, an old model of cassette tape player, significantly like the ones we had when we had been still in high school and it was the early 90's. It is a extremely manual machine and you've to operate everything by hand and on the device itself. It has no remote, but it does have a CD player deck at the top. It's pretty plain and basic, as well as the design is classic.

It is bulky as like any loud music-making device, but as a boombox it would have been far better much less large due to the fact it could be nice to bring it around like when you're out of town or having a party at an additional place. It weighs 12 pounds and it's 25.75'' wide, 10'' deep, and 11.25'' tall.

You may possibly find operating it confusing at 1st, as like with most old and old-designed stereo systems which have so a lot of buttons, wheels, and tuners on it. You'd need to read closely on the modest text labels of every button and gear that you press or turn, but that's regular as far as a first-time-used device goes.

Video

It has a very easy LCD display that only shows the track number of the song on the CD being played. There's nothing significantly to say about it, and it's practically useless if you are not playing a CD on the device.

Audio

The stereo set is composed of an FM tuner, a CD player, along with a double cassette player. No new device could be as old as the design of this model. The FM tuner is analogue and it makes use of a telescopic antenna to find coverage. This is among the things I dislike most about this model due to the fact I seriously hate analogue tuning. But I didn't really expect a high-tech operational system for this specially when I saw that it had a double cassette player. I mean, who uses cassette nowadays?

I think most men and women use the cassette for recording. And those that have cassette collections also take pleasure in playing their favorite old songs on this device. It's pretty great for a cassette player but its sound system might not be as a lot. For a boombox, it's not that noisy, and you might have to manually equalize the stereo. I believe that's an excellent point, though, simply because it is possible to alter the sound equalizer to probably the most precise level that you find preferable.

Other Features

The radio is dual to tri band, and also the volume control is rotary. Its CD deck has an auto stop system, and it also has a built-in microphone that allows you to record directly on the boombox itself. It is possible to listen as loud as you would like or privately by using headphones. It has a headphone jack for that purpose. The device operates on AC/DC power, however it has an 8-piece D-battery compartment so it is possible to use back-up power for outdoor use, or if there are power outages and you still need to tune in.

Conclusion

It is as decent as it is, but not as slick and functional as numerous other devices. But for its price, it could be an excellent bargain. I use it for FM and CD playing only, as I don't have cassettes and I stick to one radio station. Nevertheless, I'm quite satisfied with the Supersonic SC-2020  CD Boombox and I wouldn't mind recommending it to those who'd like to have an extra stereo system in their homes.

Will my processor work with this device ?

I looked at the specs on a tv tuner to give my laptop over the air tv capability. The tuner stick required a Pentium !V processor with 256k RAM. I have Athlon XP-M with 512 RAM. I can expand my RAM if necessary. I would really like to get my computer to be able to receive tv channels without attaching it to a cable or stationary antenna. I am really dumb when it comes to computers, so any help is really appreciated. Thanks

Since you have ATHLON-XPM and have 512 you can use tv tuner.I would suggest you to have more ram for your computer.
Don't worry you will too computer expert in future !

Boxee Box Gets Ready To Do It Live: USB TV Tuner/Antenna Coming In January (Techcrunch)

Many people think of television antennas as relics of the past: bunny ears and
ugly wires, black and white, and fuzzy snow pictures. So, instead, we're happy
to plop down upwards of $50 (or $85, or $100) a month to get cable, which
comes loaded with HD content and (sometimes) high quality programming. Turns
out, TV antennas are a lot more useful than most people think: most of the
shows people watch are actually available over broadcast networks like FOX,
NBC, CBS, and NBC — Boxee says 89 out of the top 100 appear on these freely
available networks. And soon owners of the Boxee Box will have an easier way
to take advantage of them, thanks to a new $49 USB TV tuner that's being
released in January (the feature was first spotted by GigaOm in a leaked
software build last week).
