I want to connect an external dvd recorder to my IMac via USB 2.0. Does it have to be specifically Mac compatible for it to work or will the computer recognize any DVD recorder I connect?
The computer will recognize any brand, as long as it is USB 2.0 compatible. However, it will probably not ship with mac software unless it specifically says so on the box. If you have a copy of a third party DVD burning program (like Roxio Toast), then you should be able to use anything. However, to be on the safe side I would stick to a burner that mentions OSX in the system requirements.
