I'm buying a tv tuner card, mainly to convert my old vhs tapes.

In all likelihood, the external channel is simply labeled "Aux". or "input". Nero is my favorite burning software. Be aware, if these are commercial videotapes, you may not be able to record them because of the copyguard feature.
